In these times of so much turmoil and uncertainty we must be very careful of our thoughts actions, words and deeds. We also must be careful of what we allow ourselves to listen to and absorb into our hearts and souls lest it grabs hold and begins to deceives us.
The world has changed and with the changes can come deception from places we may have never expected. Our need for discernment has never been more apparent.
In 2 Corinthians 11:13–15, Paul says that some people are posing as apostles who are not. He explains like this: “Even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. So it is not strange if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness.”
13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. 14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. 15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.
In other words, Satan has servants who profess enough truth to join the church, and from inside teach what Paul calls “doctrines of demons”
1 Timothy 4:1 —Now the Spirit speaks expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
Jesus says they will be like wolves in sheep’s clothing says they will not spare the flock, but will draw people away to destruction.
Matthew 7:15 — Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
Acts 20:30 — Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.
Without God’s gift of discernment our love could be suckered into behavior that shows a lack of good sense or judgment.
Philippians 1:9 — And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment;
